Why Bilstein 4600 and 5100 Struts Should Be Paired with OE Springs

Maintain proper ride quality, handling, and warranty coverage by using your factory coil springs.

Bilstein 4600 and 5100 struts are engineered specifically for use with your vehicle’s original equipment (OE) coil springs. These struts are designed around the factory spring rates, lengths, and load characteristics to ensure optimal ride height, suspension geometry, and overall performance.

Using OE springs preserves the integrity of the system. Installing aftermarket, performance, or lifted springs can push the shock or strut beyond its intended operating range. This can lead to poor ride quality, unstable handling, premature wear, or even failure of the shock.

Additionally, using non-OE springs voids Bilstein’s warranty. Any struts operated outside of their design specifications are not eligible for warranty coverage.

For best performance and long-term reliability:

  • Always use OE coil springs when installing Bilstein 4600 or 5100 struts.

  • If your vehicle has been lifted or modified, consult a suspension specialist to confirm that all components are properly matched and functioning within OE spring specifications.
