How do I properly store my Bilstein shock?

Store Bilstein shocks upright in their original packaging, in a clean, dry, and temperature-controlled environment.

Best Practices for Storing Bilstein Shocks

  1. Store Vertically When Possible

    • Keep shocks in an upright position to prevent oil from migrating into areas it shouldn’t.

    • If vertical storage isn’t possible, lay them horizontally with the piston rod side slightly elevated. Avoid prolonged storage at extreme angles.

  2. Keep in Original Packaging

    • Use the original Bilstein box or protective wrapping to prevent dust, moisture, or accidental damage.

  3. Avoid Extreme Temperatures

    • Store between 50°F and 80°F (10°C to 27°C).

    • Do not expose to freezing conditions or direct heat sources, which may affect seals and internal fluids.

  4. Keep Away from Moisture and Chemicals

    • Avoid damp or humid environments.

    • Do not store near fuels, solvents, or chemicals that can damage seals or rubber components.
