Are My Shocks Rebuildable?

Most Bilstein shocks for daily driving and light truck/SUV use are sealed and non-rebuildable, while Bilstein motorsport and high-performance off-road shocks are rebuildable and serviceable.

Non-Rebuildable Shocks
The majority of direct-fit Bilstein shocks for street and light truck/SUV applications are sealed units. These include:

  • B4 series

  • B6 4600 series

  • B8 5100 series

  • Steering dampers

These shocks are designed to be maintenance-free for their service life. When wear or performance issues arise, replacement is recommended.

Rebuildable Shocks
Bilstein’s motorsport and advanced off-road shocks are designed for serviceability. These include:

  • B16, B14, and PSS/Evo kits

  • B8 8112 (ZoneControl® CR)

  • B8 8125 and B8 9200 series

  • M 7100, M 9100, and other off-road race shocks

  • Select motorsport coilovers and remote reservoir models

These products can be rebuilt, revalved, or recharged by certified Bilstein service centers such as Down South Motorsports or Performance Shock Inc.
